Penny, Penny....Penelope

Everyday she surprises us. Yesterday we took her to the dog park in Foster City, to see how she would react off leash. She had a blast wandering around, meeting new friends, and lying in the shade.

Rocky - the Rock Star

I just spent the evening at the Cheengoo Bark & Wine event as the guardian of Rocky (http://wonderdogrescue.org/node/168). I have to say, I am in love. He is one of the sweetest dogs that I have ever met. He was wonderful with the other dogs, tolerant but not too playful, and thrived on the attention of people. If you start to pet him, he will often roll over on his back, baring all for a good tummy rub. Rocky loves his food and is extremely treat motivated and it shows just a little :) As the evening progressed he attached himself to whoever was dispensing treats. He was calm, quiet and seemed to like being in the breeze by the front door. Rocky is the perfect family dog.

Penelope - the dog formerly known as Ewok

We decided shortly after bringing 'Ewok' home that she didn't really act like an ewok. She was way too delicate and we decided she needed a more delicate name. We chose Penelope. It seems to really suit her. We often shorten it to Penny, but she is responding well to both names.

It's now been a week and she is really adjusting well to her life with us. She goes on 4 bathroom walks outside a day and is doing really well. She is good at holding until we are outside. She walks wonderfully on leash, much better than our other 2 dogs. I wish they would learn from her.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Today we picked up our latest foster dog, Ewok, who needed a little extra attention before moving on to her permanent home. What a sweetheart she is! Since getting home, all she has wanted to do is snuggle on the sofa. She has claimed our fuzzy brown cushion, which will now be her throne throughout her stay with us. Worried that she may be a little cold, with her tiny frame and missing fur, we decided she needed something to warm her up a little. Scouring our doggie closet we were unable to find anything her size. Anna had a plan though, and sent me to my closet to find some old socks I didn't wear. A few snips of the scissors later, we were in business, and here are the results! I knew my Alaska socks had a purpose!
