Violet...
Violet came into rescue on January 25th, from Los Banos. She is a beautiful girl, and so sweet. Unfortunately, she had a large mammary tumor right next to her 'armpit'. It was a little raw from the skin rubbing, and from ulceration..... My heart sank when I saw it.
We got an appointment to go to the vet at 5pm, with Dave Gordon at Mission Pet. He told me that it could not be completely removed, and that within no more than a month's time it would become unmanageable. We made the decision to let her go, to euthanize her... the same day that she arrived.
I'm so sorry that we could not do more for this wonderful dog.
This is such a large part of rescue... every rescue has hospice animals... We don't want them to die in shelters.... I regret that violet's former family did not have the courage to do right by her by taking her to the vet, rather than sending her to a shelter.....
...sometimes this job really hurts...... :-(
