Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Today we picked up our latest foster dog, Ewok, who needed a little extra attention before moving on to her permanent home. What a sweetheart she is! Since getting home, all she has wanted to do is snuggle on the sofa. She has claimed our fuzzy brown cushion, which will now be her throne throughout her stay with us. Worried that she may be a little cold, with her tiny frame and missing fur, we decided she needed something to warm her up a little. Scouring our doggie closet we were unable to find anything her size. Anna had a plan though, and sent me to my closet to find some old socks I didn't wear. A few snips of the scissors later, we were in business, and here are the results! I knew my Alaska socks had a purpose!

My dog, Grace, and I were lucky enough to meet Ewok last Saturday, quite by chance. She is a SWEETIE.
Her foster parents are very sweet, too. Thank you, both of you, for the wonderful work you do as foster parents.

Ewok will be snapped up in a heartbeat. I look forward to following her adventures!

I have rehabbed a few dogs. One in particular had terrible hair loss. I used a home made spray of steeped fresh rosemary in water. Just like a tea. I sprayed the dog and massaged his skin each day. On his following check up about a week and a half later the vet was amazed at how much fur had grown back.

It probably depends on the cause of the hair loss, but if there is any bacteria involved this will help. Rosemary is a natural antiseptic and also has very good oils in it for conditioning hair.

Kat, how much rosemary to you use... What is the ratio of water to rosemary? :-) use hot water?

Thanks for the tip. I have been researching and using grapefruit seed extract when I bathe the dogs. I also have Wysong's CITROX here, and I suspect that it does some of the same things as the grapefruit seed ext.

What a wonderful photo and update... isnt she truly amazing? What a sweet little girl, almost did not make it out of the shelter alive.....

I love her new sweate! C'est tres chic! Please give her a kiss from me.... how I wish that I could keep her....
