Ricky - UPDATE!

SADLY, after three years, Ricky's owner is returning her to rescue. She's going to take her other dog to the pound unless a rescue steps in......... We'll give you an update on Ricky as soon as she is back with us.... the following updates and such are OLD... not current.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATE: Ricky's puppies are completely weaned now. This means that our little lady can be spayed in a few weeks and then move on to her permanent home. Everyone loves Ricky! She is sweet, gentle and so curious about life!
Ricky loves being around other dogs, but could do equally well as an only dog. She is a little bit of an 'escape artist' so she'll need a home with a secure fence, if there is a yard. She WILL reward you with TONS of affection.... she is SO SO SWEET!
Please email if you'd like to meet this lass!
Ricky will be at the Nov 14th Saturday Mobile - come hug a pup!
Ricky is a cutie! Ricky is a terrier mix rescued from before it was her time to be put to sleep. Ricky is young, maybe a year and half and very playful, she does well with other dogs but absolutely loves attention from people. Ricky would be a great dog park doggie.
UPDATE: not only was Ricky saved from euthanasia, but she was pregnant! Ricky has been off the adoptable list being a Mom, but the puppies are weaned and she’s ready to get the heck outta Dodge! or at least she’s ready to start loving her forever-people.
she’s young and frisky, and loves to play with small toys (loves cat toys, silly girl.) Ricky is long and sleek, with a profile similar to the Egyptian God Anubus – she has a long tapering nose and beautiful helicopter ears, a slender body and graceful tail. her markings, similar to a min-pincher, are like little flashes of light as she follows you around the house. don't let her Momma teats fool you, she is cut as can be.
she is mostly quiet, but will bark at strangers. she wants to make sure her human is safe! once she knows the coast is clear, she snuggles right in.
Ricky chased my cats at first, but is more curious than anything. toward the end of her 6week stay at my foster house, she was curled up on the sofa with me plus cat (and what a nasty mean old cat he is.) she knows her boundaries, and once she realized he did not want to play, she stays cautiously away.
she is petit, only 13 lbs, and easy to pickup and transport in a car. she just wants to be with her human, really, no matter where they go (especially a dog park!) she is housetrained, has recently been to the vet for post-pregnancy checkup and is up-to-date on her shots.
Rickie and her new family
Ricky is settling into her forever family. Right now she is asleep on the couch next to one of her new boys. She has pretty much forgotten her housetraining and barks like mad when someone, anyone, walks in the room she is in.
All that being said, she is a sweet, loving little dog. She clearly needs time and she needs a strong pack leader. She is very gentle with my youngest child and playful with my older ones. She clearly understands puppies. :) A day or two into reading up on what makes a happy dog, she is already calming down.
She spent the xmas week on the beach with our extended family, including two other dogs, and did wonderfully. Gosh, she loved running on the beach with the kids. Long walks every morning and afternoons, basic training so she knows what to expect, and lots of cuddles while she sleeps on my bed as resulted in a dog who is settling in faster than I had hoped.
sweetie pie!
i hung out with Ricky for a few hours yesterday and fell in love with her immediately. she really is a darling pooch, very gentle, and just wants to be loved. she is the perfect size for folks who don't want too small a dog but live in a small apartment and don't feel it's fair to have a big dog. she may look cute in those pictures, but she is even more beautiful in person. i think she'd be the perfect combo of lap dog and beach/park buddy - she could run for hours on those long luscious legs of hers! Yogi loved her too!
Pretty Coloring!
just look at that coat! - she has to have some Shepherd or Rott in her, maybe Min-Pin? in any case, she turned out quite a looker! she is the perfect size to pick-up, drive around in the car, take to a dog park, or snuggle on the couch with.
i love how she smiles, what a good little heart she has! may be a great best friend for your little ones - she's a real love.
