Macey - UPDATE!

10/7 update - I can't believe that Macey has been with us since June, with NO interest..... she is a doll... sweet, loving, easy going, low maintenance. It makes me sad to think that people care less about girls like her... .I really hope that a lovely couple or person will step up soon to adopt her.

Thus said, I must add that she is perfectly content in her foster home... they adore her, because of her good manners and loving ways!

7/1 UPDATE: Macey went to the vet yesterday. We were very glad to hear that her cataracts are in early stage and that her vision is pretty good. We feel confident that Macey will thrive for a long time to come. Her foster home reports that she is a **perfect girl**! ! ! Won't you give this lovely senior the loving home that she deserves?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Macey is a very special girl.... She has cataracts and thus limited vision... she was horribly matted and dirty, and been found simply wandering around. A bath, clipping and some love have already started to turn her around.
Macey is being fostered in a SF home. After all she's been through we really want to find a loving spot for this girl to lay down her head! Please consider fostering her through our "Permanent Foster" program if you are not able to adopt. Her current foster mom has posted a lovely update below!
Three Months
I wanted to give another update on lovely Macey. We have been fostering for 3 months now, and we love her more and more every day.
She has really adjusted to SF apartment living. She no longer HAS to pee on grass...she is willing to go on concrete! :) She is perfect for a small apartment as she doesn't need much exercise, but she does enjoy getting out of the house.
Macey has really warmed up since we first got her. She loves to sleep on the bed at night, and she is the perfect feet warmer! She sleeps most of the day but she does like more attention at night if we have been away for most of the day.
She knows that she isn't as spunky as the other Wonder Dogs but she has a heart of gold and will make your day every day. Won't you consider giving this perfect dog her forever home that she is so patiently waiting for?
One Month Anniversary...
I have been fostering Macey for one month now, and I thought her profile deserved an update.
This is truly a different dog then the one who came to me 4 short weeks ago. She is so much more trusting and loving!! She is the PERFECT dog! We love having her in our home. She is so well behaved, and very grateful for a warm place to sleep.
Macey's exercise requirements are very low. She loves to play with her stuffed monkey. She will play "keep-a-way" and a little fetching. At the most, she plays for about 10 minutes. She does need to go out for walks but they do not have to be long walks at all.
Macey does not bark when we leave the house. The only time we hear her is when she needs to go potty or when she is playing. I don't think she has been around a lot of cats so she is interested in them but she would never hurt them. She just wants to figure out what they are. :)
I tell this perfect girl every day that her family will come soon and giver her a great life. Can YOU please help me keep my promise? You will not regret it if you gives this precious lady a chance.
Macey Goes Camping!
I have been fostering Macey for about 2 weeks now, and was very worried how she would do on a camping trip that I had planned before she came to stay with us. There were going to be 2 other dogs there and seeing how much she loves to be outside, I figured I would take her with me.
Macey was a champ!! She had SOOO much fun. I thought it was going to be hard for her because of her limp, but she was out running and jumping with the rest of the dogs. At one point, she was taking a nap in the shade when a bunch of ducks came up the beach to where we were. She woke up and wanted to go down to see them. I took her and to my surprise she dove into the water. Here I thought this "little old lady" was no longer interested in those types of things.
Macey may be older in years but she is a puppy at heart. Won't you consider bringing this bundle of joy into your home, and giving her the family she has been dreaming of?
"Macey"
Hello Dog Lovers,
This is Rebecca and I have been fostering "Macey". I actually call her LOLa which is short for Little Old Lady. :)
She is very sweet and loves to follow me around. She is quite restless and will pace for a while and then lie down under my chair or somewhere near me. She hates being left alone and will whine or bark a little. At night, she lies on the couch close to me and gets up if I get up no matter how comfortable she is.
LOLa gets along fairly well with my cat, Maxx, and is interested in other dogs--as long as you don't give them more attention than she's getting. She is very curious and seems partial to men when we go out for walks. We don't walk a whole lot as she has difficulty getting around. So we part walk and I part carry her. She's not real good with stairs but I give her an "A" for effort as she tries really hard to do things.
The 1st 5 nights, she slept in the living room all by herself. Two nights ago, she barked so I let her sleep with us. She hunkered down at the foot of the bed and Maxx ignored her. She is a good foot-warmer!
All in all, this dog is adorable, needs TLC but is not high maintenance as far as walking her all the time. For someone who wants a sweet companion to watch TV and sleep with at night, she'd be perfect. Just make sure that you have the time to spend in the beginning as she has been through a lot.
