UPDATE: Walter is going to be adopted! He is going to live with a longtime rescuer who has an elder whippet and several other companion dogs and cats. We've taken Walter in to the vet to examine a lump on his chest and discuss surgery options....... He will be greatly loved and live a long and wonderful life! Thank you to ALL who wrote in support of this sweetie!

Walter is such a sweet and gentle soul. After being stray in the Stanislaus county shelter he became available to rescues.... he was very close to being euthanized, but our vet tech assistant/transporter saw him and jumped in to save him!

Walter is five or more years of age... He could have a hearing deficit... we're not sure yet, but are evaluating him. Walter is a perfect soul... I can't imagine HOW he ended up in a shelter.... none of these wonderful beings deserve to die in this manner.......
