Bao (from China)
French Bull Dog
4-5 years old
MEET BAO! HE IS ONE OF THE 15 RESCUED DOGS FROM CHINA!
Meet Bao (pronounced like Bā-ō like Bay O) This little gremlin is the light of the house. He’s perfectly imperfect in every way and has completely stolen my heart. He’s a super chill guy that likes to please.
And at the same time he’s not overly needy.. basically perfect. He is not ruffled by other dogs in general, big or small, but still needs to be fully evaluated for socializing with overly aggressive dogs.
His new home will need to be very careful with introducing him to playmates. He’ll probably do really well though with other dogs in the house. He listens, is very responsive, doesn’t seem to know specific verbal commands yet but is very responsive to voice in general and gestures, like “come here” or “let’s go this way” or “no no no no”. He has completely stolen my heart.
He’s in the process of potty training and is doing well. He will need some focused attention on additional training but he is very responsive to what is being asked of him so I don’t anticipate that it will be too long before he fully gets it. He is the sweetest guy ever.
If you lay down beside him he’ll crawl on your chest and fall right to sleep. And beware, he snores. Softly. The cutest thing ever. He does super well on walks. He walk right beside you, doesn’t pull leash, he stops at curbs before crossing street (when prompted), and he pees on trees and not peoples houses, an A++ walker.
He is just learning how to play with humans so his new home should go slowly. He’s small but strong and probably not suited for children or elderly caregivers. He can play bite a little to hard if he gets too excited. It will just take a little patience to go slow.
He’d be a perfect fit for someone who likes a companion who is sweet, low maintenance (with the exception of some upfront training to get used to home life). He travels well, sleeps a lot and does not appear to have separation anxiety in the least. An ideal home will teach him ways of being a home dog. He will learn quickly. He’s a gem.
